Our client is recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) to be responsible for the span of the entire lifecycle of a project, from feasibility through to final account. 1x Cape Town office and 1x Johannesburg Office.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION
Education
- Registered PrQS
- BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying (from a SACQSP-accredited university or university of technology)
- Alternatively, an Honours or Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics may be advantageous
Experience
- Minimum: 7–10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in quantity surveying, of which at least 3–5 years should be at a senior or lead level
- Government/public sector projects experience
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing feasibility studies and preliminary cost estimates
- Developing detailed cost plans and budgets
- Drafting and analyzing Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
- Managing the tendering process, including tender documentation and evaluation
- Advising on procurement strategies
- Cost control and management during construction
- Valuation of work done and issuing of payment certificates
- Contract administration (e.g., dealing with variations, extensions of time, claims)
- Managing final accounts and close-out processes
- Managing project budgets ranging from mid-size to large-scale developments
- Advising clients on cost-saving and value engineering measures
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to stakeholders
